Purpose:

The Prince Rupert Urban Aboriginal Justice Program has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Prince Rupert Urban Aboriginal Justice Program (PRUAJB). The program's overall goals are to administer an alternative justice Program for people in Prince Rupert and vicinity, by incorporating cultural restorative and holistic approaches; promoting the Program within the schools/public/agencies; reducing the number of people in the courts and detention centres; and reducing the recidivism rate. The program has also expanded to provide sentencing advisory services for the courts.
