Purpose:

The Council of the Atikamekw of Opitciwan has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Council of Opitciwan's Elders Program. Through its Elders' Justice Committee, the Council offers diversion/alternative measures programs, mediation, and sentencing advice to courts. The programs are available to both youth and adults in the Opiticiwan community.
