Purpose:

The Council of the Atikamekw Nation has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Youth Justice Program. The Conseil de la Nation Atikamekw delivers culturally relevant alternatives to mainstream child protection and young offender systems in the Atikamekw communities of Manouane and Weymontachie. The initiative offers diversion and community sentencing programs for youth in conflict with the law, and mediation and family group conferencing to address child protection issues.
