Purpose:

The Ross River Dena Council has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Ross River Community Justice Program (RRCJP). The program's overall goals are to provide an alternative to the present justice system through support and guidance; to establish community support for those involved in the justice system; to inform the community of Ross River of the functions of the Justice Committee; to involve the Chief/Council in the Ross River Justice System; and to encourage the youth and all resource people to take part in the Ross River Justice Committee. Program objectives are to strengthen the ability of the Justice committee to take referrals for diversion and/or alternative measures, and to develop crime prevention support for youth. The program will accomplish these objectives through the delivery of workshops and circle training for interested youth, Elders and community members.
